Shiloh Food

Project Description

Mandate – Our mandate is to provide meals to various organisations taking care of the needy. Not only our own crèches, but also other pre-schools, night shelters, after school centres, old age homes and soup kitchens are benefiting from our meals. We take the pressure of sourcing and preparing of food away from these organisations, enabling them to focus on their core business, namely people.

Kitchen facility – At our kitchen in Brackenfell, we prepare up to 50 000 nutritious, hot meals each month. We daily distribute these freshly cooked meals in either bulk format (to crèches and soup kitchens) or as individually packed meals to adult beneficiaries. Frozen meals are also available.

Enhanced eating experience – It gives us a great sense of achievement to let beneficiaries enjoy an enhanced eating experience through means of a tempting variation in food texture, taste and colour. To ensure we meet nutritional standards, we regularly send our recipes to the Division for Human Nutrition at the Tygerberg Campus of Stellenbosch University for evaluation

Partnerships – To be able to produce these large volumes of food, we need substantial quantities of donated fresh vegetables, red meat, chicken, eggs, bread and dry ingredients (e.g. rice, samp, macaroni, lentils and dry beans). With the help of donations and sponsorships we receive, Shiloh is able to subsidise the price of meals to beneficiaries.

Get involved! – We invite you to visit our food factory and get excited with us, about not only what we are currently achieving, but also the potential impact we can have on the lives of many destitute people in the Western Cape. Uplift through nutrition!

Non-Perishable food welcome – deliver to our Shiloh Food kitchen 6 Dirkie Uys street, Protea Heights, Brackenfell CT.
